"Not Accident, We Want Safety" demanding the urgent expansion of the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar Highway


Eidgaon, Cox’s Bazar | November 7, Friday:

A human chain was organized at the Eidgaon Bus Station demanding the urgent expansion of the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar Highway into four to six lanes and the assurance of safe road communication.

The program was initiated by the Community Youth Development Awareness (CYDA) , a government-registered voluntary youth organization, based in Eidgaon Upazila, Cox’s Bazar.

Participants from various institutions, local organizations, and conscious citizens joined the demonstration, raising their voices against the growing number of tragic road accidents on the highway.

Speakers at the event expressed grave concern, saying,

 “The Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar Highway has turned into a death trap. Almost every day, new accidents take innocent lives.”

They further added that 84 people lost their lives on this highway during the first 10 months of 2025, calling it a matter of national concern.

 “We often hear about development and mega projects, but saving lives should be the first priority,” the speakers emphasized, urging for road renovation, adequate traffic police deployment, speed control, and awareness campaigns.

The participants placed three key demands before the authorities: ⿡ Immediate upgradation of the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar Highway from 4 to 6 lanes.

⿢ Ensuring adequate traffic police and surveillance systems on the road.

⿣ Regular driver training and public awareness campaigns.

CYDA’s Chief Executive Mr. Arkanul Islam Rian said,

 “We have gathered not for any political reason, but for a humanitarian cause. Every life is precious. Development should not come at the cost of human lives. We urge the government and administration to make this highway safe.”

CYDA volunteers, local youths, businessmen, and general residents actively participated in the event.

Participants also vowed to continue awareness campaigns and signature collection drives in the coming days to ensure safer roads for all.

"Mini-Marathon'25 is Organized by CYDA in Eidgaon, Cox’s Bazar"

“CYDA Mini Marathon 2025,” organized by CYDA, was held for the first time in Eidgaon Upazila on 12 December 2025, promoting the slogan “Run for Change.”. This event aimed to promote health awareness, positive youth engagement, and community unity. The marathon was held with the participation of volunteers and youths from various institutions of the upazila. A total of 70 runners took part in the event, which concluded in a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.
